Repeal of appropriation for eLearning Project

3 July 2008 Update!

Arizona's RFP ED08-0020 E-Learning Pilot Program

Dec 2007

From Tom Horne: Superintendent of Public Instruction

"At the conclusion of the Arizona Forty Eight Legislature - Second
Regular Session it was determined that funding for the eLearning Pilot
would: As permanent law, repeal the $3 milliono appropriation for the
eLearning from Laws 2006, Chapter 375, as amended by Laws 2007, Chapter 264, and revert any unexpended monies. Therefore, no funds exist to support an award under RFP ED08-0020."

These findings are quite thorough and detailed, especially in regards to practical challenges of successful implementations. Parsing through this report should be helpful when addressing concerns by decision makers and members of the community.

Here's a quote from one of the participants from the document that is quite interesting.

“We should use it in every class, instead of our binders and our folders and all that stuff, only the XO and that’s it.”

"We are educating people out of their creativity," Robinson says.
